On Wednesday morning, actress Reese Witherspoon was struck by a car while trying to cross the street. Sources told celebrity gossip website, TMZ.com that Witherspoon was rushed to a Santa Monica hospital at around 11 AM PST, after she was hit by a car. Witherspoon was going for a morning jog, according to reports.

The actress only suffered minor injuries, according to law enforcement officials, none of which were life threatening. Police officials report the driver that struck Witherspoon was an 84-year-old woman. Witherspoon was said to be crossing the street, at which time she was struck by the vehicle.

The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian and was released. The actress was resting comfortably at her home on Wednesday evening, after being released from the hospital.
