Poor Drake. He just dropped his latest album, Scorpion, and on it he complains about why the web sucks.
Except for the part that made him rich and famous beyond his wildest dreams, of course…
The rest of it’s pretty bad though.
Intrusive and abusive fans who want to go beyond plunking down 20 bucks for a double album with 25 tracks and going on forever into 90-minute-land.
Or losing rap battles and earning the scorn of his peers.
Then there’s the fact he couldn’t keep it a secret that he’s a single dad with a son.
Now, that part is understandable. Why does the world need to know so much about his kid?
Those and many other questions are answered through lyrics and music on the new tracks. But, what other kind of venom is expected with an album called Scorpion?
Epic rants like this one get a bit tiresome to fans who don’t necessarily want to know about the negative influences in a star’s life. It’s more about the good things that happen to celebrities all the time. You know, like, the money?
Reviews of the album are good, but, most say it’s just too long.
And, there’s too much whining.
But, the one thing about Drake is he always gets to a kernel of truth, even if we have to dig deep through the husk to see it.
This time, it’s about a son he’s always denied he had:
“Single father, I hate when I hear it
I used to challenge my parents on every album
Now I’m embarrassed to tell ‘em I ended up as a co-parent
Always promised the family unit
I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it
But this is the harsh truth now”
It was actually good of him to try to protect his son from his fame. It’s usually the other way around.
So, it looks like Drake is the Old Man now.
What’s the title of his next album going to be?
How about: “Get off my effin’ lawn!…
